More…Something New and Something Borrowed   10 comments

More?? Do I hear you cry?!…well yes even more books have come my way this week. I’m feeling a little bit guilty because I seem to have an influx of books just at the height of a bit of a reading slump. I’ve been reading The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest for well over two weeks now possibly almost three! I started reading one of my review copy e-books Happy Birthday To Me but feel myself torn between which one I should focus on. However when faced with the offer of two new review e-books which sounded so interesting I just couldn’t resist, and then a quiet night out with a friend saw me coming home with two borrowed books as well  :-S

First off though lets see what’s new at The Bookworm Chronicles:

Happy Birthday To Me Again – Brian Rowe

‘Cameron Martin has a huge problem: he’s aging a whole year of his life with each passing day… again. And this time… he’s going backward!

When Cameron proposes to his beloved witch of a girlfriend Liesel, he thinks life can’t get any better. But when he reluctantly breaks off the engagement just days before the wedding, Liesel angrily unleashes another curse on the unlucky guy, this time making him age backward, from eighteen, all the way to zero.

Making matters worse, Liesel mysteriously disappears, leaving Cameron with no options, except watching himself rapidly shrink into a helpless child. Will Liesel be able to save his life again? Or will Cameron ultimately fall prey to his girlfriend’s wicked spell?’

Killers – Shaun Jeffrey

‘Murder makes monsters of people. Prosper Snow knows that better than most. Now he’s back on the trail of another serial killer, only this time there’s far more to the case than meets the eye. Thwarted at every turn, Prosper unwittingly uncovers a human experiment more monstrous than anything he could ever imagine. Now the only way to crack the case is to work from the inside and join a shadowy government agency that operates outside of the law. Only he might be too late as the experiment has spiralled out of control.’

So turns out it is probably for the best I started reading Happy Birthday To Me as now I have the sequel to get stuck into as well. As for Killers this is something a bit different for me but after reading Mr Monster by Dan Wells may be I’ve got the taste for serial killer thrillers. Now for what my good friend Hayley lent me…oh yes you may well indeed recognise the covers already…Agatha Raisin is back in my life just in time for long winter evenings:

Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage – M C Beaton

‘Almost bigamy and absolute murder – Agatha’s life is never dull…

The morning of Agatha’s longed-for marriage to James Lacey dawns bright and clear. But her luck runs out in the church when Jimmy, the husband she had believed long dead, turns up large as life and twice as ugly. Agatha has a go at strangling him. It’s all too much for James who breaks off the engagement.

So when Jimmy is found murdered the next day, Agatha and James are both suspects. And they’ll have to work together in order to clear their names…’

Agatha Raisin and the Terrible Tourist – M C Beaton

‘Agatha’s Greek holiday may be too hot to handle…

Agatha Raisin, retired PR supremo, has been spurned at the altar by the man of her dreams, her attractive neighbour James Lacey. So temporarily deserting the sleepy Cotswolds village of Carsely, she pursues her fleeing fiance to North Cyprus where, instead of enjoying a romantic honeymoon, they witness the killing of an obnoxious tourist in a disco. Can the duo forget their differences, and resume their strangely successful sleuthing partnership?’

I’m actually finding it hard not to just curl up right now with an Agatha Raisin book and a cup of tea…but I should really finish the books I’ve started first plus organised my life and get the chores done. Why oh why does God send us so many things to distract us from reading a good book :-D

Fancy any of these books? What new books have you got this week?

  1. Pingback: Review Copy: Happy Birthday To You – Brian Rowe « The Bookworm Chronicles

  2. I could quite easily curl up with Agatha and just keep reading her adventures. But I know I have lots of other books to read as well. I come to Agatha when I just want pure joy, humour and escapism.

  3. I love seeing how participating in challenges and accepting review copies are broadening your reading horizons. Keep it up, Jessica!

  4. Thats a lot of reading! I’m only reading Girl who kicked the hornets nest right now. Read a bit of Exodus but found out its not my kind of book so left it for later.
