I’m a Winner!   2 comments

Last year I took part in the Read-A-Myth Challenge hosted by Bina of If You Can Read This and Jo of JoV’s Book Pyramid (formerly Bibliojunkie). When the challenge was complete the lovely pair decided to hold a draw for those that had taken part, with a couple of prizes up for grabs. And I managed to get picked! This is now the second time I have won something from Jo, she must be my lucky charm because generally I never win anything!

Bina popped my prize in the post with some discussion as it seems that german post is more complicated than the old Royal Mail but perhaps not so pot luck, as my prize arrived safe and sound last week. I was very excited to see it because I must be honest I wasn’t entirely sure what Bina and Jo meant by book holder. I had grand ideas of those old wooden stands you see for large and heavy leather-bound bibles in church because the poor vicar couldn’t possibly lift them…but I knew it couldn’t be one of those! I was pleasantly surprised to find it was instead the little book holder. How natty is that? Anyone else got one? I’d never heard of one before but how simple but useful is that. When I think back to my university days frantically trying to write down notes and quotes from a large volume I had to try to prop open with other books, or pieces of stationary. This would have been perfect! Oh well when I hopefully return to education this will come in very handy, or I thought perhaps it would be good to keep a recipe book open whilst cooking :-)

So I must say a big thank you to Bina and Jo for my prize and for their wonderful reading challenge which I enjoyed no end.

  1. In this case Bina is your lucky star because she drew the prize. I didn’t know what is a book holder either until I pop by Waterstone and saw one on sale. :D I am thinking of buying one now because for some big chunksters it really make my fingers sore just by trying to hold the book apart while reading it!

    • Ooo two lucky charms for me now then :-)

I have been using my new book holder to keep my page open on my (also new) yoga book, so now I can be worrying about my positioning not about keeping my book from shutting instead!
