Good afternoon everyone and a blessed Sunday to you all. I hope this post finds you all well. Another, cold but sunnier, week has flown by and it is now time to reflect back on what I’ve been reading, watching and doing over the last week:
This week, I finished reading the historical, murder-mystery, The Poison Bed by E. C. Fremantle, about a scandal in the Jacobean court of James I, which had me so gripped I stayed up till past midnight last night/this morning to finish it! Also this week, I have continued to read The Favourite: Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough by Ophelia Field, a history of the life of this powerful, glamorous and controversial favourite of Queen Anne.
While on the screen, I have continued to watch, on Netflix, Season 2 of the retro, supernatural drama, Stranger Things; and, with my dad, I have started watching the new, supernatural horror, Locke & Key. One night we also watched the creepily gripping Sky film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, in which, controversially, Zac Efron portrays serial-killer, Ted Bundy.
On Monday, my church’s small Alpha group, which I am helping the vicar to lead, met at the vicar’s house. Where we enjoyed a lovely shared meal of roast belly pork, crackling and stuffing in baps. Sadly, we had three members who were unable to come, but even though we were a little depleted we did still manage to have a really interesting discussion on this week’s topic of ‘Why and How Should I Read the Bible?’.
Sadly, there was no belly dancing this week, because our teacher had to have a small operation – Fingers crossed she will be all better for next week’s lesson. However, on Thursday, it was World Book Day! We had a crazy, fun day at work with the kids: dressed up as animal characters (I went as the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland), and doing activities and playing games based on the book, The Eleventh Hour by Graeme Base, which all culminated in a tea party in the afternoon.
Then yesterday, I met a friend for breakfast in a little, traditional café in our hometown for a catch up followed by a bit of shopping. Later, back at home, I watched the dramatic match between England and Wales in the Six Nations and made a new soup: Si King’s & Dave Myer’s Cauliflower Cheese Soup from their The Hairy Dieters: Make It Easy cookbook, which was easy to make and absolutely delicious!
While here on the blog, I started the week by rounding up my February reading in my What I Read In February 2020 post. Then I sadly missed taking part in WWW Wednesday with how fast this week flew by, but thankfully, I had pre-scheduled my The Classics Club | List Adjustments 2020 post for the end of the week.
Now that’s all folks, as you can see it has been a quite busy week for me. With that in mind, I treated myself to a quiet, lazy morning at home this morning and later I will be going to my Grandad’s for lunch. I look forward to catching up with you all next Sunday. Bye for now!

Sounds like a very fun and very busy week. I’m glad you had some Sun too this week. We had some on Saturday, and I felt so excited about Spring and Summer. I can’t wait to be able to go outside all day again.

It’s been the same here- sunny but kinda cool, although we did get some nice warmer temps. Stranger Things is so fun! And I’m really curious about Locke and Key…

Greg, sadly the rain returned yesterday ☹ but I am still looking forward to warmer and brighter days, which I hope are just around the corner. While I don’t think Locke & Key is quite as great as Stranger Things, it is really good fun so it is worth checking out.

I bet World Book Day was great fun with the children! I’m trying to imagine which animal character I might have chosen myself.
Kelly, it was great fun with the kids, if a little tiring! Some people just came as an animal, because the book, The Eleventh Hour is full of lots of different animals having a party, so you didn’t have to be a specific animal character I just wanted too. 😁
