Good morning, fellow bookworms. It is ‘Hump Day’ Wednesday which means we are halfway through the working week (if you’re at work) and it is time for WWW Wednesday! A weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, which simply involves answering the following Three Ws:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
– Currently Reading –
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel (2009) – The award-winning, historical-fiction about the dramatic rise of Henry VIII’s right-hand man, Thomas Cromwell, has been an ever so slow starter for me, however I am now and finding I am getting into it much better; and the story is only getting juicier as I am currently viewing the downfall of Cardinal Wolsey and the rise of Anne Boleyn… and we all know how that works out! 😅
How To Pray by Pete Greig (2019) – This Christian non-fiction, our July book choice for my church’s book club, in which Greig brings his 20 years of experience in teaching and leading a prayer movement to help answer the question everybody ultimately asks: how do I pray? I do pray, but like most people I don’t find it easy, so I look forward to discovering some useful tips and inspiration to help me.
Kim by Rudyard Kipling (1901) – The classic adventure that is transporting me back to the exotic, bubbling, melting pot of India under British rule in the late 1800s, where we follow the antics of the young, Irish orphan, Kim after he befriends an aged Tibetan lama. This is just the escapist adventure my tired brain has been needing. I chose it off of my Classics Club list AND my 10 Books of Summer Reading Challenge 2020 list.
Holy Bible – I have continued working my way through the gospel of John in the New Testament, but I have again missed all of my church’s Morning Prayer livestreams, as they are on while I am now getting ready for work.
– Recently Finished –
Nothing, I’m afraid! However, in the last week, I have reflected back on my reading from the first six months of this year through the fun, yearly meme: Six in Six | My 2020 Edition. Please check it out if you haven’t already. Thank you! 😊
– Reading Next –
If I am honest, I still don’t know what I will read next – It is completely dependent upon which of my currents reads I finish first. If I finish either Wolf Hall or Kim first, then I will be heading over to pick my next read from my 10 Books of Summer Reading Challenge 2020 list. However if I finish How To Pray next then I am feeling in the mood for some more history after a lot of Christian works.
Now over to you: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?
Also please leave a link to your WWW posts in the comments, so I can come check them out, too!
Currently reading Automatic Reload, before that I finished Flyaway and next up will be Deal with the Devil (which does sound rather ominous doesn’t it!). Happy reading Jessica.
Thank you, Lynn 😊 and yes, Deal with the Devil definitely sounds rather ominous! Cushion at the ready?! 😅
Wolf Hall sounds interesting! I sometimes need to chunk up slow books like that, too. And it sounds like you’re making great progress on your 10 Books of Summer list. Happy reading!
Erm… We are over half way through the challenge and I haven’t finished one book yet… not sure we can call that progress 😅 But thank you, Sammie 😊
Yes, but you’ve STARTED one, and are already thinking about the next one you’ll pick up, and I’m pretty sure that counts as progress. xD I take the wins where I can get them lol.
Now that is positivity! Thank you, Sammie! 😁
Happy reading!
Thank you, Natalie 😊
Whenever I visit your blog I find more and more classics that I have yet to read! And so my TBR grows. 😅 Happy reading!
Haha you’re welcome and/or sorry Julie Anna for increasing your TBR! 😅 And thank you 😊
Great reads, I have seen Wolf Hall around lately. I hope you enjoy your week!!
Thank you, Leslie 😊
I’m glad you’ve found a system that works for you with Wolf Hall. Mantel is wonderful, but perhaps best in small doses. Happy reading.
Thank you, Alyson 😊
You’ll be pleased to know I’m currently reading Persuasion by Jane Austen. Finally!! 😀
Kelly, I really hope you are enjoying it! 🤞
I hope you enjoy whatever you read next, and thanks for visiting my blog.
Thank you and you’re welcome, Laurel-Rain 🙂
Kim sounds like a wonderful escape. I was only familiar with Jungle Book by Kipling but this sounds so good. ❤️
Previously, I had only heard of/read The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, too Tessa. 🙂
I’ve never thought about reading Kim. I might add it to a future classics club list. Choosing the next read is always hard to predict isn’t it! It depends on so many things! It’s been quite a while since I joined in with this but my post for this week is here: https://acornerofcornwall.com/2020/07/15/www-wednesday-15-7-20/ 😊
Sandra, if you do pop Kim onto your future Classics Club list, I hope it is something you will enjoy. 🙂
I’m currently reading the woman who ran away by Sheila O’Flanagan
I have not heard of that book, Bookish Chick, but I hope you are enjoying it. 🙂
