Good morning, fellow bookworms. It is ‘Hump Day’ Wednesday which means we are halfway through the working week (if you’re at work) and it is time for WWW Wednesday! A weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words, which simply involves answering the following Three Ws:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
~ Currently Reading ~
Having finished my last book only last night, I haven’t started anything new yet. However I do have my ongoing Holy Bible reading, for which I am currently working my way back through the book of Deuteronomy. Regrettably I have not made the greatest progress with it as I have not had the focus to engage with it properly. I was inspired to pick up this difficult Old Testament book from my reading of The Bible Jesus Read by Philip Yancey and I hope I will be able to return to it soon.
~ Recently Finished ~
With all that’s be going on in my life and the world in general, I slowly but surely finished reading the classic, nautical adventure, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. Dipping in and out of this escapist journey upon Captain Nemo’s metal leviathan, the Nautilus, exploring the deep, unknown reaches of our ocean and the fantastical creatures that live there. 🦑 It may have been slow going, however it was just what my tired brain needed.
Then, just last night, I finished my speedy read of the short theological non-fiction, Luther and the 9.5 Theses by Kenneth Brownell, which I picked up as my first read for the Nonfiction November and Novellas in November reading events. This was a quick and concise look into the life of Martin Luther, his famous 95 theses and the author’s own choice of 9.5 theses we should focus on today to reform the modern church. It was also a good follow up read to the historical-fiction, Katharina: Deliverance by Margaret Skea.
~ Reading Next ~
My next novella that I have lined up to start reading tonight is the adventure classic, The Man Who Would Be King by Rudyard Kipling, which is also off my Classics Club list. This does mean I am pushing back my read of the nostalgic crime-fiction, The Mother’s Day Mystery by Peter Bartram, but I do still hope to get to it soon.
That’s it for now, folks! All that is left to say is take care, happy reading, and please feel free to share a link in the comments below for your own WWW post, so we can come check it out! I hope to see you again next week for some more bookish chat! 👋📚😃
Now I’d love to hear from you: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?
Well, I just finished the Diabolical Bones, which in spite of the dire sounding name is about the Brontes and is the second book in a series that sees the sisters turning their hands to detecting. Quite gentle and enjoyable. Currently reading an Andrew Mayne book (The Girl Beneath the Sea which seems to be a murder mystery and next up will be Call of the Bone Ships which I’m very much looking forward to.
Lynn 😀
Oooo I like the sound of the Diabolical Bones, although you’re right the title is a little disconcerting! And good to to see you carried on your mystery reading with The Girl Beneath the Sea. I hope Call of the Bone Ships willl comtinue your good reading, Lynn. 🙂
I love Kipling! I hope you enjoy this one. I can never decide which of his is my favorite.

Thank you, Molly – I started Kipling’s The Man Who Would Be Kinged and enjoyed it so much, I finished it the same night! 😃
Luther and the 9.5 Theses sounds interesting! My education on the theses was very brief so I’m curious on which ones are focused on now. Happy reading!
Julie Anna, my knowledge of Luther and his 95 theses was pretty slim too and while this short read didn’t offer tones of information, it has inspired me to read more. And thank you! 😊
Congrats on finishing 20,000 Leagues and have an amazing week!
