Hello my fellow bookworms, I am excited to share my second vintage book box from the Teatime Bookshop! As many of you seemed to enjoy my unveiling of my first box, I thought I would come back with more for you. This time I received two sachets of Fairtrade hot chocolate; a packet of vanilla & walnut biscuits; a ‘Read Your Heart Out’ bookmark; a promotional postcard and a copy of the vintage thriller The Hero by Peter Haining, which was published in 1973.
Again this is a book and an author I have not heard of before. A quick search on Goodreads tells me The Hero is about a young undistinguished agent, Richard Soulgrove, as he is chosen for a dangerous assignment to stop a nuclear threat from China. I also discovered that Haining edited horror and fantasy anthologies; wrote several reference books on Doctor Who and a study of Sherlock Holmes. All of which sounds pretty interesting!
If you are interested, the Teatime Bookshop is a wonderful online bookshop that offers subscription book boxes, that help to recycle books, plant trees and bring a little joy each month. I am so pleased with my second box and I already can’t wait for my next one!
What do you think of what I got? Have you read anything by Peter Haining? Are you signed up for any book boxes?
