πŸ™ Sunday Reflection | 19th September 2021 πŸ‘©β€πŸ«

Hello everyone and a blessed Sunday to you all. I hope this post finds you all well. A mostly, bright and warm autumnal week has passed and now it is time to reflect on what we’ve been doing, reading and watching over that time.

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ Life πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

It has been a full on week getting back into the swing of work, especially now we are finally back to moving between classes – not trapped in just one room – and my new contract means I am doing a couple more hours each week. So as you can imagine I have been pretty tired and haven’t done too much this week, except get a well deserved hair cut and plenty of early nights. πŸ’€

With this being only the second week of the school new year, I planned more simple, tried and tested meals for during the week, including: spicy veggie stew and prawn & broccoli stir-fry for dinners, and 10-minute couscous salad and classic vegetable soup for lunches. Yesterday, I also cooked up a big batch of curried cauliflower coconut soup, one of my favourites soups, and portioned it up for upcoming lunches. πŸ˜‹

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ Reading πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

As to be expected with my tiredness and early nights my reading has stayed pretty low, however I have continued to enjoy a chapter a night of the Christian non-fiction Miracles by C.S. Lewis. In which Lewis argues against the rationalists, agnostics and deists, and provides a poetic and joyous affirmation that miracles really do occur in our everyday lives. πŸ˜‡

I have also continued dipping in and out of the weighty tome The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas and in my Bible reading the books of Psalms, 1 Samuel and Mark. ✝

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ WatchingΒ πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Similarly, my viewing stayed low, until I got hooked on The Serpent (2021), a gripping drama based on the true-case of a serial killer who preyed on young backpackers, travelling through Bangkok, Thailand, which is now streaming on Netflix. Yesterday I ended up bingeing three episodes! πŸ›•

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ Blog πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Finally, here on the blog has been quiet, except for me taking part in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic: Books I’ve Read with Numbers in the Title, so please check that out, if you haven’t already. 😊

For now, that’s all folks! Today, I am look forward to going to church and a quiet lunch at home. Where ever you are in the world, I hope you and your loved ones are well: staying healthy and happy. God bless and bye for now! πŸ‘‹

(I have linked this post into the weekly meme, The Sunday Post)

Now in the comments let me know: How you are? What you have been reading and watching? How was your week? Or please leave a link to your own Sunday post. I love to chat with you all!

  1. Re reading – I read The Island – a shortlisted title for the Book Prize and was totally underwhelmed – while sad, it didn’t even give me a strong evocation of Africa where it is supposed to be set – perhaps because I am currently immersed in Angola myself (?) – but also the characters didn’t grab me and there wasn’t enough either of a story, or of change in the characters over the course of the book to hold my interest. Having finished reading that in the couple of hours it estimated – it must be a pretty short book in print – I turned to The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow, and I’m loving it. It focuses on Mary Bennet, but captures the atmosphere and tone of Pride and Prejudice extremely well.

  2. I am glad your week went well. It must be nice to be back in the swing of things, even if exhausting. The soup does sound good for lunch. I need to be more creative with my lunch choices. I am getting kind of bored with the usual fare. Have a great week, Jessica!

  3. Oh I can understand tired. This passed term has been hectic and I really, really need to have a rest and a holiday now. Luckily school closes on Wednesday for us.

I also had my hair done on Friday! First time since May. Can’t believe how time has flown. We need to take care of ourselves too…

Have a good and blessed week and enjoy some reading!

  4. I’m glad you got your hair done!! Good for you! It’s so important to take care of ourselves too.
I can imagine you’ve been tired. We all got so used to not moving a lot this last year.
Have a great week and happy reading.

  5. You make some really good soups and the couscous salad sounds great, too! I’m making lasagna soup (plant-based) for our lunch.

  6. That soup looks yummy! And perfect for a school lunch ❀️. I’m going to have to give Serpent a look. It sounds very good. Have a great week!

  7. I’m glad I’ve read this post, because (1) I just found out about The Serpent (streaming it asap!), and (2) it reminded me that The Count of Monte Cristo has been on my tbr for a very long time already. Have a blessed Sunday, Jessica! πŸ™‚
