πŸ› The Classics Club | Spin Event #28 πŸŽ°

The Classics ClubHello my fellow bookworms, I am excited to announce it’s time for The Classic Club’s 28th Spin! To join in simply list any 20 books that remain on your Classics Club list before Sunday, 17th October 2021. Then the club will announce the randomly selected number and all you have to do is read the corresponding book by Sunday, 12th December 2021. Here is my list:

  1. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen [re-read]
  2. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen [re-read]
  3. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen [re-read]
  4. Agnes Grey by Anne BrontΓ«
  5. VilletteΒ by Charlotte BrontΓ«
  6. Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
  7. The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins
  8. The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
  9. Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens [re-read]
  10. Little DorritΒ by Charles Dickens
  11. The Black Tulip by Alexandre Dumas
  12. A Passage to India by E. M. Forster
  13. Wives and DaughtersΒ by Elizabeth Gaskell
  14. King Solomon’s Mine by H. Ryder Haggard
  15. The Queen of the Caribbean by Emilio Salgari
  16. Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
  17. Heidi by Johann Spyri
  18. The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne
  19. The Invisible Man by H. G. Wells
  20. The Island of Doctor Moreau by H. G. Wells

Since the last Spin, I have pretty much kept my list the same, just replacing those books I have read/started since then. My result from last time was the science-fiction adventure, A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs, which I had really good fun reading.

As for this spin, I have only just finished the weighty The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, so it would be nice to get one of my shorter options, or it would be fun to get something suitably atmospheric for the R.I.P. reading event. So wish me luck and come back soon to discover what my result is this time!🀞

Now over to you: Have you read any of the books on my list? Are you planning to take part in this event too?

  1. Lovely… I am just starting with this challenge, but since you’ve put some re-reads on your list, I might do that as well next time (instead of some of the really BIG books I have on my list). Good luck!

    1. With my first list I went for all new books too, but I saw other people with re-reads on their lists and so for my second list I made sure to have some. It has been nice to have a mixture of new and comforting old favourites. πŸ™‚

  2. Villette is on my list, too. Though I’m hoping #18 hits (my list will publish after midnight) – I just bought Elizabeth Taylor’s Soul of Kindness – really want to read this; it’s also on a book-bingo I have going this month.

  3. I had Little Dorrit on my list, so I made it #10 as well, so we can compare notes if the spin comes up #10. Cheers πŸ™‚

  4. Every year during RIP I think about reading The Woman in White. It’s been waiting in the back pages of my Kindle for ages!!

  5. Ooh, so many good ones there I’m finding it hard to pick one! But I’m going with King Solomon’s Mines because I suspect you might love it… πŸ˜€
