🙏 Sunday Reflection | My December 2021 Wrap-Up ❄

Hello everyone, a blessed Sunday and a happy new year to you all. 🎆 I hope this post finds you all well. A wonderfully busy month has passed here in the UK for me and now it is time to reflect on what we’ve been doing, reading and watching over that time.

Wow December really has flown by for me! What with finally getting over my Chronic Sinusitis, returning to work, Christmas shopping, the run down to the end of the school term, decorating, wrapping presents and all the special church services and events! Plus with restrictions being freer this year, I was able to visit family and stay in a lovely hotel on the south coast just before the big day itself. 😊

Then I slowed things down with a nice, quiet Christmas day with just my dad and grandad, and this last week of the month, I have focused on relaxing, resting and some light chores and organising around the house. Now I am feeling rested and ready for a new year, new month, and new school term. Hopefully! 🤞

No surprise that with all that going on my reading has dropped, however I have still been able to finish these 3 books, which is a pretty average amount for me in the last year:

• The Gilded Lily: The Life and Loves of the Fabulous Lillie Langtry by Ernest Dudley (1958) 
• History of the Christian Church in the First Century by Edward Burton (2012) ⭐
• The Game by Laurie R. King (2004) ⭐⭐

That is two interesting non-fictions about completely polar people: one about the glamorous and scandalous actress, Lillie Langtry, and the other about the disciples and early followers of Jesus. Then I followed up with another of King’s comforting and nostalgic Mary Russell & Sherlock Holmes Mysteries: The Game, which is also my favourite of the month. 🏆

I have also recently started reading The Curse Keepers by Denise Grover Swank (2013), on my Kindle, and I am primed to start working my way through my beautiful new copy of Celtic Daily Prayer: Book One by the Northumbria Community (2015).

The busyness and holidays didn’t slow my viewing down though. In fact I watched even more than in November, when I was trapped in bed ill! First here are the films I watched, many of which were joint watches with friends and family over our two week holiday:

• A Castle for Christmas (2021) ⭐
• Last Christmas (2019) ⭐⭐⭐
• The Irishman (2019) ⭐⭐⭐
• Howards End (1992) ⭐⭐⭐
• Don’t Look Up (2021) ⭐⭐
• Holidate (2020) ⭐⭐
• The Suicide Squad (2021) ⭐⭐
• Love & Friendship (2016) ⭐⭐
• Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) ⭐⭐⭐

While here are the TV series I worked my way through:

• The Sons of Sam: Descent into Darkness (2021) ⭐
• Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol (2021) ⭐⭐
• The Salisbury Poisonings (2020) ⭐⭐
• Crime Scene: The Times Square Killer (2021) ⭐

That is a whopping 13 new views for me! But of course Christmas wouldn’t be complete without the comforting re-watches of Harry Potter 1-5, Elf (2003), The Grinch (2000), The Holiday (2006), and Love Actually (2003) as well!

Overall a great month of viewing, but being difficult to pick between many of them, my favourite watch of the month has to jointly go to Last Christmas (2019) and Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), as they both made me smile, laugh and cry in equal measure. 🏆

Finally, in case you missed anything… well being honest there wasn’t much to miss, due to the combination of busyness, tiredness and my laptop dying! 😵 However here is the one review and a couple of end-of-year posts I have shared over the month:
