πŸ”Ÿ Top Ten Tuesday | My Favourite Spring Book Quotes πŸŒΈ

Top Ten TuesdayHello friends and fellow bookworms. Today, I am taking part in this week’s TTT topic, which is: ‘Book Quote Freebie (Share your favourite book quotes that fit a theme of your choosing!). As spring has been in full bloom and is now giving way to summer, here in the mid-lands of little old England, I thought I would pay more homage to the season with a selection of my favourite book quotes about or make me think of Spring:

🌸 ‘In the spring when the wind is in the new leaves the echo of her voice may still be heard by the fall that bear her name.’
Β – The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien (1954)

🌸 ‘β€œIs the spring coming?’ he said. “What is it like?”… “It is the sun shining on the rain and the rain falling on the sunshine and things pushing up and working under the earth.”‘
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett (1911)

🌸 ‘When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death, And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again.’
– The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis (1950)

🌸 ‘That is one good thing about this world…there are always sure to be more springs.’
– Anne of Avonlea by L.M. Montgomery (1909)

🌸 ‘What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again.’
Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (2010)

🌸 ‘Spring drew on: she was indeed already come; the frosts of winter had ceased; its snows were melted, its cutting winds ameliorated.’
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (1847)

🌸 ‘It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.’
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens (1861)

🌸 ‘I suppose the best kind of spring morning is the best weather God has to offer.’
– I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith (1948)

🌸 ‘The day was uncommonly lovely. It was really March; but it was April in its mild air, brisk soft wind, and bright sun, occasionally clouded for a minute; and everything looked so beautiful under the influence of such a sky…’
– Mansfield Park by Jane Austen (1814)

🌸 ‘The past can teach us, nurture us, but it cannot sustain us. The essence of life is change, and we must move ever forward or the soul will wither and die.’
– Mariana by Susanna Kearsley (1994)
