Hello my name is Jessica and I am a bookworm. There is nothing I love more than curling up with a cup of tea and a good book. I have been a keen reader ever since I was a child and my passion for it has only grown, unfortunately my family and friends aren’t quite as passionate as me. So I decided to create this blog so I could share with you, fellow bookworms, my thoughts and feelings on the books I read over the year.
I also love watching adaptations. I know this can sometimes be a controversial subject with book lovers. I think my real love of them came from my time studying performance at university. There I became fascinated with taking a story and telling it through a different medium; whether that be book, film, TV, or on the stage. So you will also find monthly posts here on the film, TV and theatre adaptations I watch.
Please have a look around and if you have an opinion on what I’ve read and discussed leave a comment or email me, would love to hear your thoughts and possibly get some discussions going. You can email me at: thebookwormchronicles [at] gmail [dot] com (if you have a book you’re interested in seeing discussed on this blog please see my review policy).
Thank you for visiting my blog, I hope you enjoy what you find and will visit again soon.
Hi there,
I stumbled across your blog while looking at book review stuff and I was wondering if you might be interested in a free digital copy of my book Life on Mission @ Work in exchange for an honest review and rating on amazon and (if you were so inclined, a blog post sharing your thoughts but that’s not required). It’s a short mini-book (50 pages) and I’m just looking to get some feedback on it and help share it a bit. Totally understand and respect if that’s not something you’re into or want to do. Just figured I would ask. Thank you for your time. Hope you have an amazing day!
Hello Tyler, as I say above, please if you have a book you’re interested in seeing read and discussed on this blog please see my review policy and contact me by my email. 🙂
Emailed it to you, sorry about that, I didnt realize I had scrolled down on your blog when I first got on and missed the entire page for review policy. -face palm-
Not to worry – I will check out your email, thank you.😊
Love the idea of use your blog as a reading diary! I also have a shortage of reading friends, so I look forward to following your reviews and hopefully gleaning some recommendations. 🙂 Cheers!
Hello Chloe, thank you for stopping by and commenting. It is always lovely to hear from a new face and I hope to see you again soon 🙂
Hey Jessica! What do you think of audiobooks?
Hello Eric, thank you for stopping by and commenting. It is always lovely to hear from a new face. 🙂 As for audiobooks, I used to love listening to them as a child but seemed to drift away from them as I grew up. Recently, I have been trying them again with the wonderful Stephen Fry readings of the Harry Potter books – currently listening to The Chamber of Secrets. Not sure I would enjoy listening to a new book as much though.
Love Stephen Fry. Been following him since the Fry and Laurie days as a comedy duo. What do you like about his Harry Potter readings?
Eric, I like the voices he does and the energy and enthusiasm he brings to it.
The Python guys also do a good job.
Eric, I didn’t realise the Python guys did a version – I can imagine they would be very good.
Hello! I’ve nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award!
https://booksoverblumen.wordpress.com/2017/04/01/one-lovely-blog-award/
Thank you for the nomination Shameeka 🙂
Hey! I nominated you for The Blogger Recognition Award because I think you’re great! Check out my post here:

Thank you for the nomination Kay 🙂 I will go check out your post now.
Hey Jessica! I checked out your Classics Club list & I don’t see Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I don’t know if that’s because you’ve already read it, or you just didn’t include it. Either way, I wanted to quietly let you know a few of us will be reading it together at my place May 1 through August 1. You’re welcome to join us. Pardon me for advertising within your comments box. Please delete this if that’s an issue. 🙂 Anyway, details are in my sidebar. I’m a fellow clubber. Cheers!!
Hello Corinne, thank you for stopping by and commenting. It is always lovely to hear from a fellow clubber. I haven’t read Gone with the Wind and while I enjoyed the film I haven’t the greatest urge to read it. My list is made of classics I really want to read and/or I own a copy of already. I hope you all enjoy your group read 🙂
Haha! Your reason for starting this blog–that your family and friends aren’t quite as passionate about books as you are–was my reason for starting my own, except that it was gardening my family and friends didn’t seem to have the patience to hear so much about!
I’ve been enjoying your reviews. 🙂
Hello Sharon, thank you for stopping by and commenting. It always so nice to hear from a new face and even nicer to hear you have enjoyed what you’ve read so far 🙂
Oh no, I just nominated you for the Liebster Award and just saw that you didn’t take part the last time…:-( Sorry. Well, if you change your mind let me know because the link to your blog is on mine!
Thank you! I have previously been nominated twice for this award and have taken part both times. The posts have been deleted though as I regularly clear away old posts at the end of each year so never fear 🙂
oh good! my mistake then as I didn’t see them I didn’t know. 🙂
I hope that you do not mind but I have nominated you for the Shine On award. Take a look at what its all about.

Thank you Adam I will check it out 🙂
No probs
I love your idea. I have read and enjoyed a number of the books on your list but you have inspired me to make a list of my own although perhaps not as many as 50. I will certainly be following your blog ang looking forward to your comments as you read.
Atheline thank you for stopping by and commenting. I’m so glad you have enjoyed looking round my blog. I presume by my list you are on about my The Classics Club list. I am really enjoying working my way through my list but I can’t take the credit for the idea. There is a wonderful team over at the official Classics Club blog that should take all the credit wouldn’t work without them!
Hey, just chose you for a Liebster award. Hope you can take part. Would love to see your answers.
Lynn 😀

Thank you so much for the nomination Lynn. I will check out your post and decide whether I’d like to take part too 🙂
I know it’s time consuming – you could just answer the questions and not nominate – to be honest I hate having to nominate people because I don’t know if they’ll be naffed off!
Lynn 😀
Yeah I totally agree Lynn! I might just do a condensed version of the award 😀
I love books too! Sometimes I wonder why others don’t.
I’m glad to hear you love books too 🙂 I suppose we can’t all love the same things though, otherwise it would be a very boring world 😉
That’s true. I didn’t think about it like that : )
Glad to meet a fellow bookworm and a tea lover as well! I so love sitting in a tea shop while reading a good book, too. Cool we have that in common. Will be looking forward to read more of you here.
P.S. I just sent you a private email. Let me know what you think about my idea. Thanks!
Hello Monica, thank you for stopping by and commenting. It always lovely to hear from a new face, especially one who loves books and tea too 🙂
Congratulations! I’ve nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award. I really enjoy reading your blog! http://wp.me/p2kB6Q-6q
Aw thank you Jane 🙂
Hey, I have nominated you for the Versatile blogger Award. Congratulations! http://tothebalcony.wordpress.com/2012/05/27/the-versatile-blogger-award/
Hello Mary, thank you for nominating me 🙂
You are welcome!
I just wrote this in reply to your comment on my The Tenant of Wildfell Hall post, but I went to Leeds Uni too! I was over there from 2007-2009 working on my Masters. That is too awesome!
😛
