Hello my fellow bookworms, it is now the fourth and final week of Nonfiction November 2020: a popular, yearly reading event, that celebrates and gets us discussing our non-fiction reading.π The event is running across four weeks, with four topics and four hosts. For Week 4 (23rd-27th November) we are being hosted by Katie @Β Doing Dewey and the topic is:
New to My TBR
Itβs been a month full of amazing nonfiction books! Which ones have made it onto your TBR? Be sure to link back to the original blogger who posted about that book!
While I have been very good and not made any purchases this month, here are a few books that have made it on to my wish list, after hearing about them in other bloggerβs posts for this event:
- Heroes and Jerks: The Best and Worst Who Ever Lived by Ed Daly (Stephanie)
- Disruptive Witness: Speaking Truth in a Distracted Age by Dr. Alan Noble (Jana)
- The Mystery of Princess Louise by Lucinda Hawksley (Margaret)
- The Book of Forgiving by Desmond Tutu and Mpho Tutu (Lory)
- The Book of Joy by Desmond Tutu and the Dalai LamaΒ (Lory)
It is no surprise that these are a mixture of history, biography and faith: my three favourite non-fiction topics. π
Thatβs all from me – If you have done your own list of new books added to your TBR, then please share a link to your post in the comments below, so we can come check it out! For now though, goodbye, take care and happy non-fiction reading. πππ
Iβd love to hear from you: Have you read any of these? What new non-fictions have you added to your wish list because of this event?
Great! Have you ever read the manga biography of the Dalai Lama? I really enjoyed it: https://wordsandpeace.com/2010/11/30/the-14th-dalai-lama/
Emma, I didn’t know there was a manga biography of the Dalai Lama! I will pop over and check it out. π
Heroes and Jerks did sound like a fun one! Thanks for joining us this month π
You’re welcome and thank you for hosting, Katie! π And I think Heroes and Jerks made it onto many TBRs and wishlists from this event! π
Thanks for sharing your NonFicNov TBR additions!
You’re welcome, Shelleyrae π
I think you will love those two books – I definitely found them good for my heart.
Thank you, Lory – I am definitely in need of something good for the heart! π
I admire your restraint. As you can see from my own post, I haven’t been as good in resisting temptation π https://bookertalk.com/nonfictionnovember-temptations-galore/
Haha that’s okay, Karen! It is great you were inspired and given so many recommendations for your near-future non-fiction reading, even if its a enough to keep you going a few years! π
I’m so glad to see Disruptive Witness on your list – I’ve read it three times this year, which is NOT something I usually do, but it’s just so good! The other books on your list sound good too. Happy Reading!
Thank you so much for the recommendation, Jana and if you’ve read three times already this year, I maybe need to bump it to the top of my wishlist! π
Great choices. I like history, biography and faith.
Thank you, Iseult and sounds like we have our favourite non-fiction genres in common! They do say great minds think alike?! π
Exactly π
These all sound great! ππ NonFicNov was so fun! I love biographies too!
Hey Carol, thank you for stopping by and commenting! π I wholeheartedly agree that NonFicNov has been great fun and I can’t wait to take part again next year! π
Youβre welcome! See you next year!
See you next year, Carol! π
This one: Heroes and Jerks: The Best and Worst Who Ever Lived by Ed Daly – Thanks to Stephanie and to you! It’s been a great month
Hey Lexlingua, thank you for stopping by and commenting. It is always lovely to hear from a new face. π Yes, Heroes and Jerks does sound great doesn’t it? And it has been a great month! π
You know me – I’m all about the fiction – but very happy that you’ve done well with this.
Lynn π
Thank you, Lynn π and I am still hoping to convert you… even if it just one non-fiction in a year! π
I admire your ability not to purchase any book, I really do ! When it comes to nonfiction, I have only added one to my TBR recently (that I remember of) : John Mullan’s The artful Dickens, which will be released next year π
Aw thank you, Izabel! Although having the money or not is perhaps a bigger factor than pure will power for me not buying these books straight away! π I have not heard of The Artful Dickens, but it sounds good and I hope you will enjoy when you’re able to get hold of it next year. π
Good post. I’ve had the Princess Louise book on my TBR for a while–I must move it up!
Thank you and I hope you able to bump The Mystery of Princess Louise up your TBR: it would be great to hear your thoughts on it, too! π
When I do read it, I’ll review it!
I hope these are all good! π
Thank you, Greg! π
I read The Book of Joy last year and thought it was good.
It is really good to hear you also enjoyed The Book of Joy, Kelly. That means I want to read it even more now! π
I’m glad a recommendation of mine made it onto your TBR, yay!
Yes, thank you, Stephanie! Heroes and Jerks sounds like exactly my kind of thing! π
