🏛 The Classic Meme 2.0 | Merry Christmas & Festive Classics 🎄🌟❤

Hello my fellow bookworms and classic clubbers, first and foremost I must wish you and yours a very heartfelt Merry Christmas! 🌟 Wherever you are in the world and however you choose to celebrate, may this be a day full of joy, peace and love for you all. ❤

This is also the second month of The Classics Club rebooted Classic Meme 2.0. There is no pressure to join in, as we all know how busy and stressful life is at the moment for many people, but if you feel like it, the idea is to have fun, talk classics and get a little social. So without further ado, here is the latest topic for us to ponder:

What is your favourite seasonal/Christmas/holiday classic? Why?

Well I think we can all see why I chose to save this topic up for Christmas Day! So let’s grab a warming drink, a mince pie and settle down to talk our favourite festive reads. 🎄

I know I am as predictable as an old, well-loved record, but how could I not discuss the timeless classic, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens for this topic?! Let’s face it, it is the quintessential tale of redemption, family, love and Christmas! In fact, many seasonal traditions now popular all over England and beyond come from the picture postcard image that Dicken’s conjured of a perfect Christmas. And if your not indulging in a re-read of this festive novella this year, then I bet you will be viewing one of its many wonderful film adaptations: The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) being my personal favourite! 😊

Another festive favourite is the charming children’s classic, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, with its beautifully moralistic tale of four sisters and frankly it should make this post just for the famous quote: “‘Christmas won’t be Christmas without any presents,’ grumbled Jo, lying on the rug.” alone. 🎁 Also this post wouldn’t be complete without having discussed the magical children’s classic, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis, with its delightful images of a fawn with his umbrella below a lamp post in the snow and a delicious Christmas tea spread with Mr and Mrs Beaver. ❄
