Hello my fellow bookworms. Today, I am taking part in this week’s Top Ten Tuesday! A weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, who each week assigns a new topic to inspires us to create a top ten list based on it. This week’s topic is:
Books on My Summer 2020 TBR (or winter if you’re in the southern hemisphere)
There are many wonderful books awaiting me on my bookshelf and Kindle, however here are ten books (mostly off my list for the 10 Books of Summer Reading Challenge) I am really hoping to get to over the warmer months of June, July and August:
1. Agatha Raisin and the Wizard of Evesham by M.C. Beaton – The next book for me from Beaton’s long-running, cosy-crime series.
2. Wholeness by Christy Wimber – A Christian non-fiction, which is the next read for my church’s book club.
3. The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley – A dual-narrative, historical-romance from one of my favourite authors.
4. Kim by Rudyard Kipling – A classic adventure off my Classics Club II list.
5. The Phantom Tree by Nicola Cornick – Another dual-narrative, historical-fiction from a new-to-me author, that I’ve heard good things about.
6. Madam, Will You Talk? by Mary Stewart – The first of Stewart’s romantic suspense novels to be published.
7. The Cottingley Secret by Hazel Gaynor – An historical-fiction that retells the events of the “Cottingley Fairies”.
8. The Testament of Loki by Joanne M. Harris – Another book from Harris’ refreshing, re-imagining of the Norse Gods and legends series.
9. Katharina by Margaret Skea – The first book in a new historical-fiction series from my favourite, modern Christian novelists.
10. S5 Uncovered by James Durose-Rayner – A crime, thriller based around a series of true events exposed in the BBC’s Panorama programme.

Laurie, the prompt for the 30th June was ‘Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of 2020’ so you haven’t done the wrong list. This list of mine is from the 16th June – I didn’t take part on the 30th. 🙂
I did Top Ten Releases Anticipating for the Fall! I’ll be more careful next time when I look at the list of lists!
Well autumn/fall is in the second half of the year to be fair and to be honest I have seen people completely ignore that week’s topic and choose their own, so don’t worry! 😉
The Cottingley Fairies sounds fascinating. I remember seeing a movie about that a few years back (I’m drawing a blank on the name) and that was the first I’d heard of it, but that book sounds really good!
Oh yes, there was a film about the Cottingley Fairies, wasn’t there Greg?! It has been some years since I watched it so I’d almost completely forgotten about it. Google is telling me it was called FairyTale: A True Story. I feel like I need to find a way to re-watch it after I read the book! 😃

I loved The Firebird (Kearsley’s one of my favorite authors too) and I really enjoyed The Cottlingley Secret and the The Phantom Tree.

I have a copy of The Cottingley Secret too that I haven’t read yet. I’ll look out for your thoughts on it as I probably won’t get to it this summer!

Looks like a great pile of books, Jessica! I just picked up Elena Ferrante’s My Brilliant Friend (which I found out is part of a four book series) and The Children’s Book by A.S. Byatt from a thrift shop and am looking forward to them! I have soooo many always piled comfortably around, so plenty of options. I’m finishing up a lovely non-fiction called Around the World in 80 Trees. I really am enjoying it! 🙂
